 #1 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Blue Care Network Snowshoeing

As part of their "Get Fit" campaign at Motown Winter Blast, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Blue Care Network presents free snowshoeing!  Snowshoes are available for free at Winter Blast in a variety of sizes for children and adults.

 

 

 

#2 Free Skating sponsored by Charter One Bank

There's only one weekend you can skate for free at Campus Martius Park- Winter Blast Weekend!  Free Skating at the rink is once again sponsored in 2013 by Charter One Bank.  If you need to rent skates at the rink they are available for $3, but the first 250 renters will get their skates free courtesy of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan & Blue Care Network.

 

 

  #3 Ice Skating Demonstrations featuring DSC

The Detroit Skating Club will once again dazzle the crowd in performances on Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 2pm and 4pm.  In 1949 the official "Detroit Skating Club, Inc." was born out of a group of post-WW2 skating enthusiasts! DSC has become one of the premier skating centers in the world with many skaters, not only from the U.S. but from around the world, coming to their facility for choreography and year round training.   They are the current home of three time National Champion and Olympic and World competitor, Jeremy Abbott.

 

 

 

#4 Radio Disney Feature: "Doc McStuffins"

Radio Disney AM 910, part of the #1 radio network for kids, tweens and families, joins in on the fun with Detroit Medical Center (DMC) and DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan on February 9 and 10 (12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.). The Radio Disney AM 910 Road Crew will be on-site with interactive entertainment themed around the hit Disney Junior series "Doc McStuffins" including a stuffed animal and toy check-up station where kids can check their toys' height, reflexes and heart beat. Additionally, kids and families are invited to play games such as "Bandage Me Up!," "Name That Doc McStuffins Character" and more.

 

 

#5 Flagstar Bank Ice Garden

Beautifully carved and lighted ice sculptures again will be on display in the Flagstar Bank Ice Garden. Visitors can snap photos of their family and friends on one of two ornately crafted ice chairs, or even the ice bench.  Or, visitors can swing by the sculpture of an Eskimo family and pose in any of the four open faces for memorable pictures. On-site ice carving demonstrations will take place during festival hours on Friday to showcase the creativity and talent of local carvers. Located in Cadillac Square.

 

  

 #6 Greektown Casino-Hotel Taste of Detroit

Sample great local food from Metro-Detroit eateries! #8 Hockey Haven in the D

 

Hockey is back in Detroit, and festivalgoers will win big as it joins the Motown Winter Blast celebration. The Winter Blast is excited to announce a new partnership with the Detroit Red Wings and Olympia Entertainment that will bring fun, hockey-themed entertainment to this year’s festivities. For the first time, the Red Wings will have a pair of interactive hockey games, including top shot, where fans will have a chance to win prizes. # 9 Great Expressions Hockey Shot Competition

The hockey activities don’t stop there: the Winter Blast is challenging festivalgoers with a Hockey Shot competition, presented by Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC). Throughout the weekend, attendees will have a chance to shoot and score cool prizes from Great Expressions, the Winter Blast and Detroit Red Wings. The grand prize winner will get a choice of a free set of braces or a dental care package from Great Expressions Dental Centers; two tickets to an upcoming Red Wings home game; and a weekend in Detroit package, courtesy of the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel. Each person who participates in the competition, taking place on the Campus Martius Park ice rink on Friday, Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m., will receive a GEDC t-shirt and smile bag for all their mouth-care needs.

 

 

 

#10 University of Phoenix Learning Center Tours

Another newcomer to the festival and the downtown area is the University of Phoenix. The new sponsor is celebrating the opening of its new campus by offering facility tours each day of the event, at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. Festival patrons can sign up at the University of Phoenix booth, located in the festival comfort zone tent on Woodward Avenue.
